Factorio smelting setup.

For this setup it's just personal preference, but why not. You need some sort of electric power drain to justify that large nuclear plant. If I wanted to build a megabase that is going to be UPS limited, then I'd want solar power (more UPS friendly than nuclear) and a bot based beaconed + moduled smelting/production setup (again more UPS friendly).

Setting up an HP printer can seem like a daunting task, especially if you’re not tech-savvy. However, with the right guidance and a little bit of patience, you can easily complete the setup process without any hassle.Smelting setup Circuit-free solutions of basic factory-design to achieve optimal item-throughput. Involving: Belts (balancers, crossings), Inserters, Chests, Furnaces, Assembling Devices ...In a game with my friend Riithi, he built a pretty cool smelting setup for Iron and Copper, and called it the OmniSmelter. It responded dynamically to demand, and smelted only what was needed. He called it the OmniSmelter, but I kept renaming his stations to MultiSmelter, because it didn't do Steel or Brick. The rest of the story is obviousFor the calculations I have defined space efficiency as the area covered by the 3x3 mining drill divided by the total area of the tileable design. For example a design with 90% space efficiency has 90% of the ground covered by physical mining drills and the other 10% is taken up by belts or whatnot. The minimum space efficiency is 36%, one ...Smelting Train: Add a Metallurgy Smelting themed train with 2 types of locomotives (regular for the first locomotive and a tender for in between) and a high capacity cargo wagon (64 slots) for long distance traveling between your base and mining outposts! There are settings to enable multiple tiers of this train.

Once I move to a beaconed steel smelting I move away from direct insert as the ratios change and it's no longer a 1:1. You actually need less iron smelters than steel smelters once you are working with productivity modules. So I separate steel production from iron production and train iron in.I figured it out. Take the tiliable part of the set-up. in your set-up it's the 8 by 8 tiles containing 8 furnaces. Then divide by the number of furnaces. That gets you 8 furnaces per tile. The default 11 wide by 2 has 2 furnaces. And there you have it. The 11.Meanwhile setup 2 has 11 beacons on steel and 9 beacons on iron, so the ratio is almost perfect. each furnace in setup 2 produces 0.930 steel/s while setup 1 produces 0.804/s, so using setup 2 there will be less furnaces and their respective inserters in the long run. The question is whether the added UPS from the extra swings of the long ...

For steel I normally just stack another standard smelter print on the output of one of my iron lines. I like what you did. What I would add is a buffer either for each furnace or for each output-belt, because if you don't do that the furnaces will stop running when entirely filled. The steel transfer I find really smart.Re: A Question About Where to Smelt. by sillyfly » Sat May 02, 2015 2:40 pm. It is somewhat personal preference, but remember that when an ore field runs out you have no choice but to move your miners, while your smelting facility can stay the same throughout the game. So while you may at first put your furnaces near where you mine your ores ...The steel plate is an advanced material made by smelting iron plates again. It is used in many advanced recipes, including electrical distribution logistics, military items, and upgraded production machines. Interestingly, the output of one iron-smelting furnace is the same as the input required for one steel-smelting furnace. That's still worse than the un-beaconed setup, but it's noticably closer. Naturally, the more belts you add, the closer your per belt average will get to that ~25MW number, but you'll never beat that with beacons. Of course if you add efficiency modules to the unbeaconed setup it's not even close.

This is actually quite creative! +1 Though no offense, I honestly don't think you'd gain anything by using the design, for one (this is somewhat irrelevant btw) it's one tile smaller in width compared to what I'm planning to use for my new factory. But while I don't see any significant throughput issue with your design, I can't see how beacons would fit anywhere there, and they're quite huge ...Info Details Just some early/mid-game smelters.
